Colonial-style Bushland Park Lodge is nestled in a historical gold mining valley, gateway to the spectacular Wentworth Falls. In five acres of manicured park land surrounded by native forest abundant in native ferns, birds and glow worms entertain guests, far away from city lights. Breckenridge Lodge is a unique gourmet retreat. Located in sunny Hawke’s Bay wine country this lodge is a haven for those who want to relax and be treated to some of New Zealand’s finest cuisine and wines. This lodge was purpose built by owner and renowned Chef Malcolm Redmond. With only 5 ensuite rooms specifically designed to ensure personal service and an intimate dinning experience, each has it’s own spectacular vineyard view. Malcolm’s reputation for excellence in food and wine is celebrated daily in his 5-star cuisine and the optional dinner wine pairing from Malcolm’s personal cellar 30 years in the making.

The Breckenridge gardens provide over 2 acres of both organic produce to be used in Malcolm’s daily menus, as well as, ample space to wander, unwind, and observe some of the 30 species of native bird life spotted on the property. The lavender grown here is also harvested to make Breckenridge’s signature bathroom amenities.

Breckenridge Lodge is conveniently located to suit an abundant amount of activities. Take a wine tour of some of New Zealand’s best wineries with over 30 cellar doors in the area. Explore the Art Deco Capital of the World with Napier just a 15-minute drive away. Cycle some of the 200 km of limestone paths along the coast or amongst the vines. Play 9 or 18 holes at one of three historic or world-renowned golf courses. Other activities include gannet safaris, Maori culture tours, hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, horse riding, and fishing for world-class trout in some of the most picturesque and undisturbed rivers and streams of New Zealand.

From the discreet, comfortable luxury of your country estate on the Kapiti coast hub you can choose to venture next door to Wellington or enjoy the features of the west coast of the lower North Island…or just stay in and indulge.

Six private suites envelop guests in warm spacious indulgence with plenty of other shared social areas to tarry a while or regard as your own area for animated private conversations. Suites spill over into balconies and terraces in a lodge that is extensive yet intimate. Four are in the main building with two more nestled into the surrounding bush – a wonderful destination for those seeking the ultimate in privacy and relaxation. They are individually appointed with their own character, their own outlooks but consistent in their silence, full features and attention to detail.

Kapiti Coast has safe endless beaches to stroll and is rich in Maori history. Visitors exploring the many bird sanctuaries - including the internationally renowned Kapiti Island - never forget their experiences. Being leeward of Kapiti Island delivers the benefits of an ecoclimate. This landscape inspires relaxation yet offers ample for the adventurer. The temperate climate allows golf year around at the internationally renowned links course and the world class car museum is a must. It is a hub to Wellington, Wairarapa, with flights to rest of the country from Paraparaumu Airport or from our own helipad.

With only five elegantly appointed en-suite guestrooms, offering all modern conveniences, Pen-y-bryn accommodates just ten guests at a time. Guests are invited to make full use of the lodge’s facilities, whether to simply relax, enjoy a game of snooker on the magnificent billiard room’s historic slate table, curl up with a good book in the library or enjoy a wide variety of outdoor activities.

Throughout the lodge there is plenty to explore, from the artworks that adorn the walls to the views over the Pacific Ocean and out to the Kakanui Mountains. Our immaculate gardens are particularly popular with native birds that serenade guests as they enjoy their breakfast or wander the grounds.
